Improve Conversions

What Is a Website Popup?

A website popup is a panel displayed over or alongside a page in response to timing or behaviour. It can highlight a relevant action, but it temporarily competes with the content the visitor chose to view.

What a sound approach looks like

Conversion work is usually the removal of uncertainty and friction, not the addition of pressure.

A good implementation is understandable to someone seeing it for the first time. It also leaves a measurement trail: you can identify what changed, where the visitor came from and whether the change helped.

What to do next

  1. Use it for one closely related offer.
  2. Provide an obvious close control.
  3. Test timing and mobile size.

How to judge the result

Watch for technical failure, unclear wording, poor message match and avoidable choices. Compare like with like and give the test enough time to reveal a useful pattern. Keep the original version as a reference rather than changing everything at once.

Watch out: Never block essential content with an impossible-to-close overlay.
